Omschrijving

We are starting a new research laboratory in the Department of Chemistry, National University of Singapore, to study electrocatalytic materials for energy conversion reactions. Reactions of interest include water splitting, CO2 reduction and fuel cell reactions. We will establish fundamental relationships between the structure/composition of our catalysts and their performances. This knowledge will enable us to rationally design more efficient and robust catalytic materials.

We are looking for a highly motivated and qualified post-doctoral researcher to push the frontier of our research. The successful candidate will design and perform experiments to synthesize new electrocatalysts, and characterize and evaluate them for activity, selectivity, and stability. Experimental methods that are available include spectroscopies (Raman, IR, XPS), microscopies (AFM, STM, TEM), electrochemical methods (CV), GC and MS. The researcher is expected to mentor PhD students working in this project.

Requirements:

- A PhD degree in chemistry, physics, material sciences or a related field. – A demonstrated ability to work independently, and adapt into new areas as the needs of the project evolve. – Excellent written and verbal communication skills. – Excellent interpersonal skills. – Experience in heterogeneous catalysis, electrochemistry, synthetic skills, and/or surface/solid state characterization techniques would be of advantage.

We offer a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The initial appointment is for one year, with an expectation for renewal based upon job performance.

Applicants should email a cover letter and curriculum vitae (all in pdf) to Asst. Prof. Boon-Siang Yeo. The CV should include educational and professional background, a list of publications/posters/conference presentations, and contact information for two referees.
